On How's That, Foster and the Dragons demonstrate that their frame of reference ranges from the be-bop of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, to the free jazz of Ornette Coleman, to the contemporary jazz of the 21st century by Kenny Garrett and Dave Douglas.
